The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles swept Hope International, 3-0, at home on Monday night.
By the Numbers: Jonathan Predney was unstoppable with 15 kills, hitting .419. Andrew Hammer added seven kills, and Joseph Pillon and Hunter Howell had five each. Jacob Weiser had 12 digs and Hunter Howell led with five blocks.
The Difference:Â The Eagles hit .362 compared to .178 for Hope, and outblocked the Royals 9-2.
Critical Plays: A block from Falduti and Hammer broke the back and forth in set one, and CUI led 13-11. The Royals immediately tied but Joseph Pillon killed one to get it back. A CUI error led to a tie at 22. An ace from Hunter Howell gave the 27-25 win. Hammer finished one as CUI ran out to a 7-3 set two lead. Again the Royals came back to tie at 11. Jonathan Predney finished from the back row and CUI led 16-14 and Predney again made it 20-14. The Eagles ran away with it 25-17. A kill from Pillon saw CUI jump up 12-5 in set three. Predney smashed three more to make it 16-9. HIU fought back again, but CUI won 25-20.Â
What it Means:Â Concordia broke a four-match skid and improved to 11-6.
