IRVINE, Calif. – Michaela Vanderklugt and Montana Walters both earned All-PacWest accolades following an impressive season for the Eagles. Concordia finished 16-10 overall, 13-7 in conference and snagged a bid to the PacWest Conference Tournament.
Michaela Vanderklugt was awarded All-PacWest Freshman of the Year and Third Team All-PacWest. Vanderklugt made an immediate impact on the Eagles with not only her scoring, but her defensive efforts and work load. She played 792 minutes, scored 394 points and grabbed 204 rebounds. She tallied 46 assists, 32 steals and averaged 15.2 points per game. In the conference, Vanderklugt ranks 9th in rebounds with an average of 7.8 per game and 5th in field goal percentage with .464. She was named PacWest Freshman of the Week three times and PacWest Player of the Week once with six double-doubles and a career high 32 points in a single game.
Senior guard Montana Walters grabbed a spot on the All-PacWest Honorable Mention Team. Walters ranks 2nd in the conference in three-point field goal percentage with .382 and 4th in three-point field goals per game. She averaged 11.5 points per game, totaling 300. Walters hit 65 three-pointers and played 750 minutes for the Eagles. She scored over 20 points four times, including a season high 25 points against Fresno Pacific. Walters was named PacWest Player of the Week once.
The conference tournament is set to begin Thursday, Mar. 1 in Riverside, Calif. CUI, the no. 4 seed, will open up play with Point Loma University at 2:45 p.m. In the 2017-2018 season, the Eagles and Sea Lions split 1-1.
