IRVINE, Calif. - Adriana Gil picked up PacWest Freshman of the Week honors this week for her outstanding performance at the Biola Invitational at Ted Craig Regional Park. Gil ran a time of 19:03.16 in a race full of fierce competitors. This mark placed Gil in the top 40 of over 215 runners.

The Huntington Beach, Calif. native helped the women's team to finish fifth out of 22 teams overall in the 5K race and second place out of the eight PacWest schools that competed in the meet.

The Eagles were picked to finish sixth in the preseason polls for the PacWest so they had something to prove in their meet at the Biola Invitational.

CUI compiled a total score of 181 points and wound up just two points behind the No. 1 ranked school in the conference which was the host school, Biola University. Cal State San Marcos finished in first place with 85 points (Just as in golf, the lower the score, the higher the finish).

This is the first award that Gil has earned in her career with the Eagles and will look to build on her performance in San Bernardino, Calif. for the Coyote Challenge hosted by CSUSB on Saturday, Sept. 28.
