IRVINE, Calif. – With a new season on the horizon, the Concordia University Irvine men's lacrosse team has been picked to finish in the top two in the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference Preseason Poll.
By the slimmest of margins, Concordia came in second place in the voting with 59 total points. Chapman earned five first-place votes and was picked first with 60 points. The Eagles did earn three first-place votes and will look to fend off Arizona, Grand Canyon and USC as projected top five teams in the division.
The SLC will deliver an automatic qualifying team to the 2022 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance. That tournament will be played in May in Round Rock, Texas, just like it was last spring.
CUI made the field of eight teams last season and is eager to prove it deserves a return trip.
