NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine baseball team concluded their preseason on Saturday with an exhibition doubleheader at Division 1 Cal State Northridge.
In the first game,
Tony Garcia III and
Nathan Benefeito each collected a hit, while
Cooper Moore hit a solo home run in the 2nd inning, accounting for the Eagles lone run in the game. Despite only surrendering 7 hits, the Eagle pitching staff was unable to prevent the Matadors from plating 11 runs.Â
Despite out-hitting the Matadors in the second game, CUI fell two runs short in the 7-inning battle. Senior outfielder
Matt Lautz led the offense, going 2-4 with a HR and 2 RBI, while
Cooper Moore and
Nathan Benefeito each collected a double.
The Eagles will face Point Loma Nazarene in their season opener on Friday in San Diego. The following day, March 20th, will be their home opener at Eagles Field in Irvine, Calif. No fans are allowed in-person at this time.Â
