FRESNO, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team extend their win streak to three after playing against Fresno Pacific Saturday. CUI handed FPU their second loss in the PacWest conference in a five set battle with final scores 13-25, 25-14, 23-25, 26-24, and 15-13.
This was a tough match-up for both teams as the tempo toggled between the two. The first and second was dominated by each team as their held their opponents under 15 points. The last three sets swayed both ways the whole time as the scores were a two point difference.
Outside hitter
Kirra Schulz led the Golden Eagles all over the court as she finished with 18 kills and 12 digs. Schulz was dominate at the service line with four aces marking a season-high. Other pin hitters
Cassie Prior and
Kennedy Farley were key contributors as they both had 14 and 13 kills while each earning six digs.
Freshmen
Caitlin Jarrell led CUI with two solo blocks and had three kills while
Halli Hooks two kills.
The PacWest Defensive Player of the Week Hooks continues to impress at the net as she put up two blocks and one being solo.
Both setters
Michelle Feliciano and
Devin Sivertson added two aces each along with their 25 and 16 assists. The duo added 11 digs from the back row while Feliciano threw down a successful kill.
Julia Wilson wore the libero jersey and dug up eight.
The Golden Eagles will be back in the CU Arena as they take on Academy of Art on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. before going on the road to play against the three Hawaii teams in the conference.
