Halli Hooks has been named as the PacWest Defender of the Week from the CUI women's volleyball team. Hooks put up impressive numbers after facing the three Hawaii schools from the conference.
The middle blocker finished the week with 16 total blocks that ended up touchable from their opponents. Hooks put up impressive numbers against Hawaii Hilo as she tied her own career-high in blocks. The Arizona native finished with nine blocks with two of those being solo blocks. She previously hit this mark earlier in the season against Cal State San Marcos. Hooks has recorded at least one block in every game that she has played in this season.
The freshman middle blocker has 49 block assists and 11 solo blocks which leads CUI. She also leads the entire PacWest conference with a total of 60 blocks averaging 1.40 blocks per set.
Not only does Hooks contribute defensively, but makes her appearance known on the court offensively as well. She has 25 kills on the season and is hitting a .253 on the 2022 season.
The Golden Eagles are 9-7 and 6-3 in the PacWest conference and will continue conference play this weekend on the road. CUI will take on Fresno Pacific on Saturday, Oct. 8 with a 2 p.m. start time.
