IRVINE, Calif. – Capping off a fantastic final season for the Green and Gold, Concordia basketball's
Michaela VanderKlugt was named D2CCA West Region Player of the Year as the headliner on the First Team All-Region squad.
VanderKlugt is joined by fellow PacWest Conference member Kayla Shaw of Azusa Pacific on the D2CCA First Team All-Region squad as well as Akayla Hackson from Cal State San Marcos and Central Washington teammates Samantha Bowman and Kassidy Malcolm.
VanderKlugt became the first Concordia player to score 2,000 points and collect 1,000 rebounds during the program's NCAA D2 era. The Concord, Calif. native also set BOTH the all-time PacWest record for career rebounds AND school record for career rebounds and ranks second in CUI program history in career points.
VanderKlugt averaged a double-double with 18.5 points & 10.3 rebounds per game while shooting 50% on FG. She was named
PacWest Conference Player of the Year, made First Team All-Conference twice and became the first student-athlete to make five All-PacWest teams. She's also earned more PacWest Player of the Week Awards than any other women's basketball player & is a perennial Academic All-Conference selection.
