IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine men's soccer team has been ranked to place in the top half of the PacWest Conference, with a projected finish of fourth overall.
The Golden Eagles were picked fourth by the coaches in the league, behind Biola, Point Loma, and reigning champion Azusa Pacific.
The team finished fifth place last season with a record of 7-7-3 overall and 5-3-2 in PacWest. Head coach Chris Gould returns six starters led by senior Alex Perez. Perez, who was also named to the Preseason All-PacWest team, led the Golden Eagles with seven goals along with three assists in the 2021 campaign.
On defense, the Golden Eagles return a strong core led by junior Tyler Oakson and senior Klaus Huovila, who earned second and third All-PacWest team selections respectively. While at goalkeeper, sophomore Andre Flores looks to build off last season where he made 51 saves and kept four clean sheets as a true freshman.
The Golden Eagles also added freshman Kevin Sanchez and Brandon Schalliol to join their fellow Servite High School alumni Justin Nodarse and Brett Lux.
