IRVINE, Calif. - Nine straight wins, a pair of season sweeps and an extended time in first place for the Concordia women's basketball team was enough to be named the PacWest Team of the Week!

This is the second time this season that the Golden Eagles have collected this award.  CUI knocked off Academy of Art on Thursday before securing an important road win at third-place Dominican to move to 11-1 in PacWest Conference action.  CUI is tied with Azusa Pacific for first place in the league.

The Golden Eagles also moved up to No. 6 in the D2SIDA West Region rankings after being firmly in the No. 8 slot the past two weekly polls. The top eight teams will make the regional tournament and CUI has a chance to do just that for the first time in program history.

Jasmine Rachal averaged 15.0 points and 2.0 steals in the team's most recent two victories in Northern California.

Erika Maggard poured in a career-high 16 points and also collected three steals and six rebounds in the crucial win over Dominican. She had 10 points against Academy of Art.

Freshman point guard Kayla Cabaccang also gave her team a big boost in the win over ART U. She helped change the way the game was going and stepped up offensively for a career-high ten points against the Urban Knights.

CUI hosts Chaminade next on Wednesday, Feb, 1 at 5 p.m. in another conference rematch. The Golden Eagles get about ten days in between games to rest and practice before facing the Silverswords.
