Super Schulz: Senior Repeats As PacWest Player of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. – For the second straight time, Concordia senior Kirra Schulz is your PacWest Player of the Week.

Schulz is coming off three stellar performances against league opponents and helped CUI defeat Academy of Art and Dominican this past weekend. She has now earned a double-double in her last TEN matches - plus - she is just 11 kills away from 1,000 for her career.

She set both a career-high and a Concordia school record with 29 kills last Tuesday night against Azusa Pacific.  That's the most kills in a five-set match for a CUI women's volleyball player and the most in the NCAA DII era.

Schulz averaged 5.0 kills/set and 2.9 digs/set with a .326 hitting percentage in those three matches.

The outside hitter also collected 13 digs against the Cougars and then proceeded to place 17 kills to go with 11 digs in Friday's home win over ART U.

The senior rounded out the weekend helping CUI sweep Dominican with 14 kills and 11 digs.

CUI gets a week of practice ahead of its next road trip to Northern California.  The Golden Eagles visit Dominican at the Icebox on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. followed by a rematch with the Urban Knights on Monday, Oct 23 at 5 p.m.

The next home game is Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. against nationally-ranked Chaminade.
