Paradis Earns PacWest Runner of the Year

IRVINE, Calif.- The PacWest Conference special awards were announced on Wednesday and Jori Paradis was named the 2023 Cross Country Runner of the Year for the women's side. This comes by little surprise after the season Paradis had.

Paradis won two races in the 2023 season: the team's season opener in San Bernardino and (most notably) the PacWest conference championships in Fresno in October. She became CUI's first PacWest cross country conference champion. Across all her other regular season races she was only beaten by two NCAA DII competitors, and one of them was her teammate, Maddie Jahshan, in Riverside, Calif.

Paradis led the team to its highest-ever PacWest conference finish (second place) and played a large role in the teams' highest-ever regional finish (fourth place) after taking 10th in the west region championship race in Monmouth, Ore. in November. She also earned herself a spot on the all-region team. Additionally, the Golden Eagles received their first-ever USTFCCCA national ranking, staying at number 19 for the last two polls of the season. Paradis completed her final cross country season, but big things are yet to come when she hits the indoor and outdoor tracks come January.
