IRVINE, Calif. - In what many said was the biggest matchup in the MCLA this week, Concordia kicked off their 2023 campaign by putting the country on notice. Coming into the game ranked #7 in the nation, Concordia began one of the toughest schedules lacrosse at home against #3 BYU.
Concordia set the tone going up 9-2 at halftime in what would be a dominant display all-around for the Golden Eagles. CUI would then ride that momentum into the second half as they routed the Cougars 18-10.
Andrew Buckley led all scorers with 4 goals while
Brett Masaki tallied 4 points (3 goals, 1 assist). On defense,
Daniel Yang took the helm at goalie saving 10 BYU shots and
Cade Poe won 15 face offs. Finally in his Golden Eagle debut,
Jeremy Barnes made his presence know as he netted a hat trick.
CUI will be back at home Feb. 18 at 1:00 p.m. to play #13 UC Berkeley
