SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - After a dominant win over #23 Cal Poly, the Golden Eagles looked to leave the MCLA with a statement before they join the NCAA. The next stop for their farewell tour would be up in north in Santa Barbara to take on the #7 Gauchos.
Concordia established a commanding 8-2 lead at the half and would continue their dominance adding two more goals while shutting out UCSB's offense late into the third quarter. Despite the Gauchos adding five goals later, it proved to be too little to late as the Golden Eagles soared to a 12-7 win.
The offense was led by
Nick Beeson (4 goals, 1 assist) and
Tyler Collins (1 goal, 3 assists). The Golden Eagles put of a defensive masterclass as
Daniel Yang had 14 saves on 17 shots on goal through 3 quarters for an 82% save percentage.
Cade Poe and
Tristan Keyser combined to go 19 of 23 (83%) at the face off and scooped 17 ground balls. Midfielders
Yungte Young and
Eric Obispo continued to dominate the transition position playing lock down defense while also scoring one goal each. Meanwhile,
Braden Schneider played superbly collecting 6 ground balls and caused four turnovers.
CUI will be back at home for Teacher Appreciation Night on March. 7 at 6:00 p.m. as they play #20 South Carolina
