Burke Flies Home As Third National Meet Participant

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- Ryan Burke is the third swimmer in the NCAA DII era to make it to the national level.

On Thursday Burke swam the 100 Butterfly and landed a time of 57.54 which placed her in 25th in the nation. The following Friday morning she swam the 200 Butterfly and went a 2:09.58 which finished her in 31st in the nation.

"The overall experience was something that I've never seen before! The atmosphere was insane," said Burke. "The other PCSC teams (East Bay, APU, FPU) all stuck together which was so cool to see. Being the third swimmer to compete in this meet was an honor to say the least. Following behind Katelyn and Kyle, two of CUI swimming's most notable alum was such a special privilege. Overall, I am so happy to be able to compete on this level and represent CUI. I am thrilled for a short break and getting back to work for August."

"Like Katelyn Thomas and Kyle Benjamin before her, Ryan worked very hard to get here. Less than 2% of D2 swimmers get into this meet so it represents a tremendous accomplishment for her," said CUI head coach Bert Bergen. "We are confident that we have athletes on this roster and new ones on the way who can qualify. It's not easy, takes a lot of sacrifice, commitment and passion, but that is what we are blessed to do. She's got those traits and will be back, tougher and stronger and she will have teammates with her!"

Congratulations Ryan!!
