IRVINE, Calif. - Redshirt junior Nathan Benefeito and freshman pitcher Josh Pugh were named PacWest Player and Pitchers of the Week respectively after their performances against Azusa Pacific. Benefeito slugged three home runs during the four-game series against the Cougars. He now has four home runs on the season which is a new career-high. One of those blasts this past Friday proved to be the game-winning swing as CUI earned a split with the first-place visitors from Azusa.

Pugh got the start on the mound to open up the series on Friday afternoon. The Placentia native went seven strong innings striking out five batters while only allowing one run.

The right-hander took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and was in command on the mound.  He also got the victory which pushed his record to 3-2 while lowering his ERA under 3.50. 

The Golden Eagles will host No. 24 PLNU  for a double-header this Friday April 14th starting at 2:30 p.m.
