Four Golden Eagles Earn All-PacWest Recognition

IRVINE, Calif. – Four CUI baseball players earned All-PacWest recognition on Tuesday. Michael Dixon and Riley O'Sullivan earned First Team honors while Nathan Benefeito and Brett Finnel was named to the All-PacWest Third Team.
 
Michael Dixon - OF

Dixon leads the Golden Eagles with a batting average of .371 and 53 hits in 42 of the games he has participated in. The Oakland native has crushed five home runs while having a career-high of five hits against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Feb. 29. The outfielder has brought in 32 RBIs and led CUI with 30 runs.
 
Dixon is ranked seventh in the PacWest conference with his batting average and OPS being at an impressive 1.0004. Dixon earned PacWest Player of the Week at the end of April after going 11-for-18 while hitting a .611 batting average and bringing around seven RBIs during the Biola series and a non-conference game against APU. This marks the second year for Dixon to receive first team honors in the PacWest conference.
 
Riley O'Sullivan - P

Riley O'Sullivan has pitched six complete games with four games going nine innings and the other two going seven. Of the six games he has thrown two complete game shutouts not against Cal State San Marcos in seven and Holy Names in nine innings.
 
The junior pitcher led the Golden Eagles with a 7-1 record while striking out 58 batters faced and allowing 66 hits. O'Sullivan only allowed 19 runs in the 11 games he pitched with 10 of those being the starting pitcher for the Golden Eagles.
 
O'Sullivan has earned PacWest Pitcher of the Week twice and led the conference with a 1.42 ERA in the 82.1 innings pitched. He was the first pitcher to be honored this year by the NCWBA (National College Baseball Writers Association).
 
Nathan Benefeito – OF
 
Benefeito blasted a career-high of six homers on the year including one in four consecutive games. The senior earned PacWest Player of the Week after coming in clutch hitting three homers against APU with seven RBIs. He reached on base in six consecutive games with at least one hit in April against APU and Biola.
 
The Mission Viejo native had a career-high of three hits in a single game four different times and hit two grand slams against Point Loma and Biola. He was second for CUI with a .322 batting average and had 48 hits with 28 runs and RBIs. Benefeito led the Golden Eagles with three triples and had a slugging percentage of .557
 
Brett Finnel – P
 
Finnel received PacWest Pitcher of the Week and NCBWA Regional Pitcher of the Week this year. Finnel had a season-high of striking out 12 batters at Hawaii Hilo only allowing two hits and one run in the eight innings pitched.
 
The starting pitcher finished the season with a 4.47 ERA while going 5-2. The Riverside native led the Golden Eagles with 61 strikeouts and allowed 43 hits with 29 runs in the 54.1 innings pitched. The junior was ranked ninth in the PacWest conference with his ERA in the 11 games he appeared in.
