IRVINE, Calif. - On the heels of back-to-back road wins over CCAA opponents, the Golden Eagles are the PacWest Conference Women's Soccer Team of the Week for the second time this September!

CUI beat both the heat and Cal State San Bernardino last Tuesday 3-0 and then followed that up with a 1-0 triumph over San Francisco State this past Friday.

Sophomore goalkeeper Riley Urquiza also nabbed her second PacWest Defender of the Week Award after notching two more shutout victories.  Urquiza tallied three saves on her birthday to turn aside Cal State San Bernardino and then four more stops against the Gators.

CUI has been superb defensively through its first five matches. This includes four clean sheets during the winning streak and only one goal allowed to then-No. 24 Cal State Los Angeles in the home opener. The entire backline has communicated at a high level and worked together to make scoring opportunities difficult for opponents.

The Golden Eagles have outscored the opposition 11-1 in their first five matches. Senior Riley Walkington leads Concordia with two goals and three assists.  The Idaho native has contributed a point in each of CUI's four victories.

CUI hosts Cal State East Bay this Thursday, Sept. 21 at 6:30 p.m. to close out the non-conference portion of its schedule. 

The Golden Eagles then welcome Point Loma to town on Saturday, Sept 23 for the first PacWest Conference doubleheader of the fall. Both women's squads are receiving votes in this week's United States Coaches Top 25 poll that came out on Tuesday.  The CUI men's soccer team faces the Sea Lions at 3:30 p.m. followed by the women playing at 6:30 p.m. under the lights here in Irvine.
