IRVINE, Calif. – Outside hitters
Kennedy Farley and
Kirra Schulz of Concordia were named to the All-Tournament Team after a thrilling three days at last weekend's Golden Eagle Invitational.
Concordia went 3-1 in four games and the only loss came against No. 4 Wayne State College who remained undefeated.
Farley and Schulz both showed their versatility by compiling three double-doubles in the three CUI victories.
Farley racked up a career-high 25 digs in CUI's
season-opening win over Cal State Dominguez Hills. The junior added a career-high five aces in
Saturday's victory over UCCS which lasted four sets. She finished the week with 46 kills and led the Golden Eagles with a total of 55 digs. That averaged out to 2.88 kills per set and nearly 3.5 digs per set during the tournament. The Phoenix, Ariz. native and Centennial High School alum had 14 kills in the wins over CSUDH and UCCS and average more than 11 kills each match. She also hit .304 against No. 4 Wayne State.
Schulz was First Team All-Conference last season and named to the Preseason All-PacWest team this August. The senior placed a team-best 59 kills in these four contests and added a team-high nine aces along with 53 digs, which was good for 3.31 digs per set. She racked up 21 kills in the first win over the Toros and added 17 digs as well. She finished the weekend by hitting .302 against UCCS with 15 kills and 11 digs just hours after posting 17 kills and 18 kills in the win over Cal State East Bay.

CUI heads down to San Marcos this week to play the first of four matches at the Cougar Classic. CUI faces the host Cal State San Marcos Cougars Thursday at 6:00 p.m. before two matches on Friday and the finale on Saturday.
