Two CUI women's swimmers stood out above the rest of the Pacific Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference this last week. A pair of wins launched sophomore Alex Leland into the weekly honors, as female swimmer of the week. Her freshman teammate, Carissa Ward, also swam her way to the top earning women's freshman of the week.
Leland had an excellent meet in the tri-meet between CUI, CSEB and SDSU. In the competition against CSEB, she swam to a 30.2 split on the victorious 200 medley relay. She also won the 100 breaststroke (1:07.53) and the 200 breaststroke (2:29.44) events and as a late addition on the 400 free relay, she provided a 54.4 split on the runner-up relay.
Ward also had a solid outing at the CUI/CSEB/SDSU tri-meet. She won the 200 IM (2:14.84) and was second in the 200 Back (2:11.10). She also led off the 200 medley relay and provided a leg on the 400 free relay. She already has PCSC top-10 times in these individual events.
