IRVINE, Calif. – Three Golden Eagles have been recognized from the PacWest conference and earned All-Conference honors. Pitcher
Jake Covey has put up impressive numbers all year to earn Co-Pitcher of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and Starting Pitcher First Team All-Conference.
Michael Dixon has been named First Team All-PacWest with freshman
Wyatt Madison Third Team All-PacWest.
Covey has been a key contributor to the CUI pitching staff as he has earned three accolades from PacWest Co-Pitcher of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and Starting Pitcher First Team All-Conference. The junior transfer has a 2.20 ERA with a 6-2 record and one save while pitching four complete games this season. The Costa Mesa, Calif. native tops many categories in the PacWest conference including the lowest ERA, the most complete games, and has the lowest earned runs at 16. He has pitched 65.1 innings while striking out 81 batters faced. Covey struck out 16 against Azusa Pacific Mar. 27 where he was recognized as the PacWest Pitcher of the Week, NCBWA DII West Region Pitcher of the Week, and NCAA DII Pitcher of the Week.
Outfielder
Michael Dixon earned First Team All-Conference for his third consecutive year as he continues to be a force offensively. The Oakland, Calif. native leads many categories for CUI this season with 34 runs, 59 hits, and hitting an impressive .366. Dixon has recorded 10 doubles, five triples, and not to mention leading the Green and Gold with six homers. The senior had a nine game hitting streak mid-season while having a multi-hit game 16 times.
Freshman
Wyatt Madison has earned Third Team All-Conference as a designated hitter. Not only does he step in the batters box but he has also pitched this season for CUI. Madison is hitting .283 while adding 26 hits and 11 runs on the season. The Los Alamitos, Calif. native has six doubles, 16 RBIs, and two home runs. Madison went 4-for-4 at Fresno Pacific on Apr. 19 that led to their win and helped win that series.
The Golden Eagles have reached the PacWest Conference Championships for the first time in program history and will be the No. 3 seed as they take on No. 2 seed Hawai'i Pacific with a 4 p.m. start time Wednesday May 8 at Azusa, Calif. For more information about the tournament click
