IRVINE, Calif. - Concordia University Irvine men's water polo closed the historic chapter that was the 2025 season with three special national awards and four players being named All-Americans.

The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) named Concordia goalkeeper Pablo de Souza as the NCAA DII Player of the Year while also recognizing both head coach Justin Johnson as NCAA DII Coach of the Year and former CUI standout Konstantinos Koulouris as NCAA DII Assistant Coach of the Year.

De Souza starred as Concordia's goalkeeper and helped the program and the entire school gain notoriety and respect on the national stage. De Souza shattered the school record for most saves in a single season by over 100 stops and even stopped not one, but two 5M penalty shots in the NCAA Quarterfinal against USC. He was named WWPA Player of the Year as well earlier this winter - the first goalkeeper to win that overall top player award in five years.

Johnson and Koulouris, along with fellow coaching staff members Carlee Kapana, Jose De La Jara and Nestor Nunez helped lead the Golden Eagles to their first NCAA Tournament appearance ever at the NCAA DII level and CUI finished the campaign 21-12 overall which is the most wins for the program since the 2013 season and the most by far in the NCAA DII era for the school.

Hugo Wouters and Dimitrios Koritsas both emerged as important offensive weapons for the Golden Eagles as freshmen and joined De Souza as ACWPC All-Americans. Senior Kai Young was also a Honorable Mention All-American, making it a fantastic four for Concordia to be recognized on the national level.
