IRVINE, Calif. - On the heels of helping notch the team's third straight home victory, Concordia senior
Daniel Yang also secured Defensive Player of the Week Honors in the Peach Belt RMAC Division.
The Golden Eagles goalie was fantastic against Westminster last Wednesday evening, limiting the visitors to only five total goals. Westminster never scored more than two goals in any of the four periods, and CUI led 4-2 at intermission.
It was a low-scoring, defensive battle and Yang racked up a dozen saves. The 12 stops are a season-high, and at one point, Westminster went nearly 18 minutes of game time without scoring a goal during the first half.
The Green and Gold head out east to Colorado this week to tangle with two RMAC Division foes. The Friday afternoon contest at No. 19 Colorado Mesa is a battle for first place and a rematch of the regular season opener,
which was won by the Mavericks 13-8.
After that conference clash, CUI looks to sweep the season series with Adams State on Sunday. That will be a matinee beginning at 10:00 AM PT (11:00 am local MT).
Concordia's last home game in the regular season will be on Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m. It will be Senior Day against the Dominican Penguins.
