IRVINE, Calif. - For the first time in the school's NCAA DII era, the Concordia University Irvine men's lacrosse team was honored with the USILA All-Academic Team Award.
The USILA (United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association) honors the top teams and individual standouts after every men's lacrosse season in two different ways.
The USILA All-Academic Team Award rewards programs across the country that sport a combined 3.0 GPA or higher as a team. CUI earned a 3.15 combined GPA this past season and was the only program from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) to be honored.
In all,
CUI was one of 31 NCAA DII programs to clear this high academic bar during the 2024-25 school year.
Golden Eagles All-Conference selection
Colin O'Connor also was named a USILA Scholar All-American. O'Connor was the only player from the the Peach Belt/RMAC Division to be selected. In addition to making
the PBC/RMAC Division First Team Academic List a few weeks ago, O'Connor also led the Golden Eagles with the most caused turnovers and ground balls among non-face-off specialists. He earned a 3.94 GPA while working towards his master's degree in organizational leadership.
In addition, O'Connor represented Concordia at the USILA All-Star game earlier this summer.
Only 28 NCAA DII programs had at least one student-athlete represented on this individual honor list that featured outstanding seniors and upperclassmen from this past season.
