Box Score 2 Riverside, Calif. - CUI's men's water polo team opened up the Lancer Joust hosted by Cal Baptist University with a battle against Division I opponent UC Irvine. The Golden Eagles came out strong but ultimately fell to the Anteaters by a final score of 17–10. Game two on the day in favor of the Golden Eagles, 17-6.
UCI 17, CUI 10
Kai Young paced the CUI offense with three goals, while Dimitrios Koritsas matched him with two goals, one assist, and a steal. Freshman Levi Riegelmann continued to make an impact, contributing two goals and a pair of assists for a team-high four points.
Kaliq Khan added two goals and an assist, while Oscar Garcia Blomback chipped in one goal. Porter Rosenlof and Sam Diamond each picked up key contributions on the offensive end, with Diamond tallying an assist. Nicolas Fuchs and Carter Clenney also recorded assists as CUI spread the ball well across the lineup.
In the goal, Senior Pablo de Souza collected 17 saves and two steals while facing a relentless UC Irvine attack. His work in the cage kept the Golden Eagles within reach through the first half before the Anteaters pulled away late. Despite the loss, Concordia displayed balanced scoring and energy in its tournament opener against a nationally ranked Division I program.

The Golden Eagles exploded out of the gate with a 7–0 run in the first quarter and never looked back. CUI's offense was firing on all cylinders as 10 different players found the back of the net in the victory.
Dimitrios Koritsas set the tone with three goals, one assist, and two steals to lead the way. Nicolas Fuchs matched him with a strong performance, scoring twice and dishing out two assists for four points. Freshman Levi Riegelmann and sophomore Kaliq Khan also scored two goals apiece, while Ruben Montoya tallied a pair of goals of his own.
CUI's depth was on full display, as Sam Diamond, Carter Clenney, Oscar Garcia Blomback, Hugo Wouters, Luc Chapman, and Kanoa Stoddard each chipped in goals to keep the momentum rolling.
A few different Golden Eagles got to help out in the cage today, with Hale Durbiano spending one period in the cage with two saves, and Derek Maddox spending two periods in the cage and coming away with four steals and an assist.
The Golden Eagles capitalized on special teams, converting 3-of-10 power plays and going 4-for-5 on penalty shots. Their aggressive start created separation early, allowing them to control the game from wire to wire.
With the win, CUI split its first day of action at the Lancer Joust, improving to 1–1 in the tournament. The Golden Eagles continue play Saturday with two more contests as they look to build on their convincing Game 2 performance.
