IRVINE, Calif. – Concordia University Irvine senior Kevin Sanchez has been named the PacWest Player of the Week after leading the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 win over No. 24 Cal State Dominguez Hills in their home opener.
Sanchez delivered the breakthrough in the second half, scoring the opening goal with a header off assists from Jonathan Moreno and Nathan Nava. The veteran forward then added an assist of his own, helping set up Bryan Maldonado's goal to seal the upset victory. He finished the match with two shots, one goal, and one assist, showcasing his impact on both ends of the attack.
This is the first PacWest weekly honor of the season for Sanchez, who continues to be a key leader for the Golden Eagles in his senior year.
CUI men's soccer returns to the home field on Tuesday, September 10 at 6:30 p.m. for another non-conference matchup against Cal Poly Pomona.
