IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine men's soccer squad enjoyed a spirited effort on the pitch on Thursday evening as they fended off the Hawaii Pacific University Sharks 2-1.

Marcus Ozmai delivered clutch goals to help CUI build a 2-0 advantage. Jun capitalized off a set piece by firing a zinger into the back of the net midway through the first half. The senior later found Ozmai cutting in the 83rd minute to double the Concordia advantage.
Ozmai's high-energy play throughout the match helped set the tone for the Green and Gold. His aggressive attempt in that moment was successful and he secured his third career goal at a critical time.
The Sharks were almost held without a shot in the first half and avoided the shutout with a late goal in the second half.
CUI outshot HPU 11 to 3 while also earning six corner kick
The Golden Eagles improved to 6-4-1 overall and 2-1 in PacWest Conference play. The CUI men's squad moved to 3-3 on home turf and is 2-0 since moving into its new locker room.
CUI finishes out a challenging stretch against all three PacWest schools from Hawaii with six points.
The Golden Eagles also defeated Chaminade on Tuesday night and played well in a tough 2-1 setback against Hawaii Hilo last Saturday.
Next on the docket the Golden Eagles get a week of practice to prepare for hosting Vanguard University next Saturday, Oct. 10 at 6:15 p.m.
