IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine softball team has been named the PacWest Team of the Week after a strong 7-1 showing against Hawai'i Hilo and Chaminade.
The Golden Eagles controlled play throughout the week, improving to 23-5 in PacWest competition and 33-11 overall. Concordia's pitching staff led the way, recording four shutouts across the eight-game stretch and consistently limiting opposing offenses.
In a competitive series with Hawai'i Hilo, two of Concordia's wins were decided by just one run, while their lone loss also came by a narrow margin. The Golden Eagles continued their strong play against Chaminade, including a hard-fought 1-0 shutout victory.
Kacie Gossett anchored the pitching staff with an outstanding week, throwing 21 innings and earning four wins while posting a 2.67 ERA. Jayden Nishi contributed a four-hit shutout and added a save in another win. Kira Morris and Kailey Estes also turned in scoreless performances, with Morris tossing five shutout innings and Estes adding six.
At the plate, Audrey Robles led the Golden Eagles with a .429 batting average, eight RBIs, and two home runs, providing a consistent spark for the offense.
The Golden Eagles return home on April 4th for a PacWest doubleheader against Azusa Pacific, with games scheduled for 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
