IRVINE, Calif. - This week will mark an incredible opportunity for Concordia University Irvine student-athlete Olivia Holmquist.

Holmquist will compete at the 2026 USA Track and Field Under-20 Championships this Friday, June 19 up in Eugene, Oregon. She is slated to begin her event Friday at Noon (PT) at Hayward Field.

This competition serves as a selection event for the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships team.

"I was first exposed to Nike Outdoor Nationals through my track and field club, Spartan Track Club Hawai'i," explained Holmquist. "Our head coach, Mike Harvey, and jump coach, Kyle Davis, encouraged me to compete in this arena because it is the highest level for high school track and field athletes, other than the Olympics."
 
"To compete in the same arena that collegiate athletes and Olympians compete in is an honor," continued Holmquist. "This year, I have the opportunity to be that college athlete and compete for CUI representing our track and field program in the U20 division. Coach Bloomfield and Coach Brunk encouraged me to enter to not only learn from such an incredible experience but also to challenge myself at a higher-level standard." 
 
"I'm really looking forward to competing against these amazing athletes and to give them the best competition that I can give," added Holmquist. 

Holmquist just enjoyed a sensational freshman season with the Golden Eagles. The PacWest Conference Champion in the high jump as a true freshman, Holmquist also set school records multiple times throughout her first year with the Green and Gold in her signature event.

A native of Kailua, Hawaii, she was one of five CUI athletes to compete at NCAA DII Championships and finished 20th in the nation in the high jump. 

Her best mark of the year came during indoor season, when she cleared 1.76 meters (5 feet and 9.25 inches) in the high jump during the Grand Valley State Big Meet in February.  She also competed in the triple jump throughout the outdoor track and field season.
