CUI's Crawford Jumps At Chance To Compete At NCAA Indoor Championships

IRVINE, Calif. – Concordia Jasmyn Crawford is no stranger to the national spotlight on the track.

But this week marks the first time she will get to compete at the NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field National Championships!

In her first season competing in the long jump at this level, Crawford qualified in that event to go to Indianapolis, Indiana.

Crawford soared to her qualifying mark of 6.02 meters in the long jump early this indoor season, when she broke the meet record and facility record at the Concordia Classic out in Nebraska.

The women's long jump is scheduled to begin this Friday, March 14 at 12 p.m. PT (3 p.m. ET) at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion.

Crawford is one of only two long jumpers from the West Region to qualify for this event. Neshara Smith is the other from Cal Poly Pomona.

This has been a fantastic spring semester already for Crawford.

The Bonita, Calif. native also hit 5.98m in February in the long jump and then just this past week, she launched a program-best 6.25 meters in the air to also qualify for the NCAA D2 Outdoor National Championships later this season.

By landing that impressive mark, the Christian High School alum bested the previous outdoor school record set by long jumper Paige Johnson (6.11m) in 2021. Concordia alum Sarrah Herron (6.15m) still holds the school record for indoor long jump, which was set back in 2019.

Crawford has actually now set multiple school records this semester at CUI – and done so in THREE different events.

At the Grand Valley State Big Meet, Crawford blazed into the record books with a program-best time of 24.48 seconds in the 200m dash.  She made it two indoor records in two days when she raced in the 60m dash and clocked a speedy time of 7.57 seconds.

Prior to coming to Concordia, Crawford excelled at Whitter College and was a DIII All-American in the women's 4x100m relay. She also became the first female individual to be an All-American on the track when she clocked a 11.84 in the 100m dash and finished fourth at the 2023 NCAA DIII Championships.

She was also named the 2023 SCIAC Female Athlete of the Year and the Whittier 2022 Female Athlete of the Year.

Crawford and her coaches flew out on Monday to prepare and enjoy this special invite that is part of the NCAA DII Festival. In addition to the track and field indoor championships, this week also marks the culmination of the wrestling and swim and dive seasons as well.
