IRVINE, Calif. - The Concordia Men's Volleyball team took on UC Merced for the second straight time. After traveling to Merced and sweeping the Bobcats 3-0, the Eagles returned home and picked up another win to behind a massive game from middle blocker
Hunter Howell.
Howell was by far the Eagles most effective weapon tonight, hitting .611 with 12 kills and two service aces. He also contributed on the defensive end with four block assists and a solo block.
Andrew Hammer and
Jonathan Predney joined Howell as the only Eagles in the double-digit kills column. Hammer posted a team-high 13 kills and a couple of aces, while Predney followed by putting down 11 kills of his own.
Concordia had a solid night offensively and finished with .252 hitting percentage and 57 kills to go along with nine kills on the night.
Setter
Chandler Gibb ran the show for the CUI offense, setting up his teammates to post 46 assists in the match.
Defensively, the Eagles were led by Libero
Ryan Murphy as he recorded 15 digs in the match, a season-high for the senior.
The 3-0 (25-19, 24-26, 25-19, 25-19) victory brings their record to 12-7 on the season, while the Bobcats drop to 0-5 overall.
