IRVINE, Calif. - The Concordia University men's water polo team closed out the regular season on Wednesday night with a match up against crosstown foe, University of California Irvine. The Eagles fought valiantly but succumbed to the Anteaters by a final score of 16-5.
The Eagles were looking to avenge the previous outing against the Anteaters however they were playing catchup from the very beginning.
The first quarter started with a barrage of goals from the Anteaters. The Eagles did all they could to slow down the offense of their opponent but to no avail. The score after one was 7-1.
The Eagles played a solid second quarter. One which saw them hold the Anteaters to only one goal. The Eagles got goals from Messan Moore, Maruis Jakimcikas, and Cristiano Tomassetti.
At the break the score was 8-4 in favor of the Anteaters.
The Anteaters once again found their rhythm, blanking the Eagles in the third quarter while finding the back of the net five times.
Nick Walker scored once in the fourth quarter to bring the Eagles total to five.
The Eagles are back in action Friday November 22 at 11:00am at the Lancer Aquatics Center in Riverside, Calif. They take on California Baptist University in the first round of the WWPA Championship.
