IRVINE, Calif. – After an outstanding week at the plate, Concordia University Irvine outfielder
Megan Massa was named the PacWest Freshman of the Week on Monday.
This marks the second time already this season that Massa has been recognized for her efforts by the conference.
The CUI freshman went 9-for-17 last week and batted .529 while also scoring five runs and collecting four RBI. Â In the final game of the week at Dominican, Massa went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI. Â
The Fairfield, Calif. native boosted her career batting average to .434 with one home run and 12 RBI while securing the leadoff spot in CUI head coach
Crystal Rosenthal's lineup. Massa currently is on a seven-game hitting streak which includes five consecutive multi-hit games.
As the No. 3 team in the nation in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Poll, the Eagles just finished a road trip where they went 6-0 and improved to 6-0 in PacWest play
after sweeping a doubleheader at Dominican.Â
CUI brings a 15-game winning streak to the table against Hawai'i Pacific which will visit Irvine this Thursday, March 14 and Friday, March 15 for doubleheaders starting at 2 p.m. each day.
