IRVINE, Calif.- The Concordia University Irvine women's soccer team is flying high after getting voted second in the PacWest preseason poll.
The Eagles finished strong last year with four shutout victories in a row and they are looking to make an impact on the PacWest Conference again this year. Two Eagles have been named to the PreSeason All-PacWest Team:
Carmany Jones and
Isabella Angotti-Jones. In addition, Angotti-Jones was picked as Preseason PacWest Defender of the Year.
              Â
Jones proved to be a threat last year scoring eight goals and playing 1,236 minutes on the season. She was named First-Team All-PacWest in both her freshman and sophomore year as well as
2018 D2CCA Women's Soccer All-West Region Second Team. Â The conference has high hopes for her again this season as does the entire Eagle family.
Angotti-Jones was previously Third Team All-PacWest in 2016 then earned All-PacWest Second Team in 2018. She scored three goals last season as a defender and showed to be a tough match-up for the opponents to get past. Angotti-Jones also nailed in the game-winning goal against
FPU to win the conference opener.
The season is looking hopeful for the women's soccer team as they have 19 other returners to help Jones and Angotti-Jones have a successful season. Coach
Chris Gould also
recruited seven new players to come in and add some fight for the Eagles.Â
