IRVINE, Calif. - With 295 wins in program history, the CUI men's soccer squad will look to surpass win No. 300 this fall.
 
Heading into the 2019 season, the Eagles look to keep the ball rolling from their impressive finish last season. The Eagles won five of their last six games to end the 2018 season at .500 (9-9), while going 7-4 in PacWest Conference play. 
 
It will be no short task to fill the shoes of Jose Garfias,  Ari Claro, John Letona, and Connor Gordon, the program's top four minutes played earners in program history. These four players were a huge part of the success of the Eagles last season, which also included Gordon tying the school record for all-time goals with 50 in his final appearance as an Eagle.
 
With 11 new members to the roster, opportunity knocks for new faces to step-up and bring more fire to the team in addition to the returning Eagles. 
 
"We have worked really hard to create an environment that will bring the best of us forward," said CUI head coach Chris Gould. "We are confident that we have the right incoming guys to help us be successful on the field and in the classroom… The expectation of the team is to put each other in positions to be successful. We want to walk off the field knowing we gave everything we had for the team."
 
The squad was chosen to finish in fourth place in the PacWest preseason poll and have a tough non-conference schedule to prepare them for the moment. The Eagles will open their season in La Jolla on Thursday, Sept. 5th at 4:30 p.m. against UC San Diego, who took the 1-0 victory in overtime against the Eagles in last year's match. 

The Concordia men's soccer team will have its home opener on Saturday, Sept.14th at 3:30 p.m. against San Marcos and opens conference play Saturday, Oct. 5th at Fresno Pacific. For the full schedule of the Concordia men's soccer team, click here.
