The Eagles were back in action in the Inland Empire classic on Sunday. They earned a split in their record with a loss to the Trojans of USC and a win against the Leopards of La Verne.
Game One:
The number one ranked Trojans of USC scored fast and often on their way to a 27-3 victory over the Eagles. Â
The Eagles fought hard throughout the entire game and never once saw their effort drop. They got goals from Nick Taylor, Cristiano Tomassetti, and Marius Jakimcikas. The Eagles looked to regroup in the second game of the day and regroup they did.
Game Two:
The Eagles went down 1-0 early to the Leopards but by the end of the first quarter had a 5-3 lead and never looked back. Scoring the final two two goals of the game, the Eagles were able to pull away for the 22-12 win. Â
Messan Moore and Marius Jakimcikas led the way, scoring six goals a piece, as the Eagles get back in the win column for the second time this season. Â
Team ball was not lost on the Eagles as they assisted on ten of their twenty-two goals. Â
Coach Dreason Barry was very pleased with the resilience his Eagles showed over the course of the weekend. "We finished strong in our 4th game of the weekend playing La Verne," said Dreason. "We played our best water polo in our last game which is a good sign of mental toughness." Â
The look to build on that mental toughness as they get ready for their next game.Â
They are back in the pool on Friday September 20th when the take on UCI at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center.
