Newport Rib Company Eagle of the Week: Scout McClinton

By Billi Derleth

This year’s first Newport Rib Company Eagle of the Week is Scout McClinton from the women’s lacrosse club team. McClinton is a junior this year and is pursuing a major in psychology and a minor in pre-nursing. When she was asked why she chose to study psychology she responded, “I chose psychology because I have always been interested in mental health and the different ways that it affects people, and my mom is a psychologist so that helped spark my interest!”

When McClinton was asked what she learned from 2020 she responded that “2020 taught me to value time with my friends and family!” A common lesson that was learned by many people this past year and an important lesson for everyone to keep in mind for 2021.

To get pumped up before games, McClinton listens to music with her teammates. Some of her favorite musicians are Billie Eilish, Tyler the Creator, and Flume. One of McClinton’s favorite athletic memory’s while attending CUI is from her freshman year. She was on the field when one of her teammates scored a buzzer beater, which she found to be really cool.

When McClinton was asked about what makes Concordia University Irvine so special to her she responded thoughtfully.

My favorite aspect of attending CUI is that it is a smaller school so you are able to get more time with professors and coaches.

One thing that you may not know about McClinton is that her spirit animal is a dog. Well, a dog is her favorite animal. She’s still uncertain which animal would classify as her spirit animal.
