IRVINE, Calif. -
Hailey Asato turned in two brilliant performances with her teammates on defense this past week while playing in her home state of Hawai'i.
Fittingly, she was named the PacWest Defender of the Week by the conference after helping CUI earn a win and a draw with two clean sheets.
She collected four saves against Chaminade in a 2-0 victory before helping the Eagles keep the HPU Sharks off the scoreboard with four more stops in a 0-0 scoreless stalemate.
Asato and the Eagles conclude their road trip out on the islands with a match Tuesday afternoon at the University of Hawai'i Hilo before returning home. CUI enters Tuesday unbeaten through their first three conference games (2-0-1).
CUI's next home soccer doubleheader is this Saturday, Oct. 23 against Academy of Art. The women play at 3 p.m. and the men follow at 6 p.m.
