Six Eagles Listed on PacWest All-Conference Teams

IRVINE, Calif. - After the cancellation of the 2020 Fall season, the men's soccer team finally got back on the field in full conference play.

First Team All-PacWest: Alex Perez

The single Eagle to make the First Team was Alex Perez. In his first season with the program, he led the team in goals at seven and added three assists to his season points! He had multiple matches where he scored two goals, with two game-winners on the season. Perez had a natural sense of attack, and his talent helped him secure this honor. He boasted 45 shots with 18 of them hitting the frame of the goal.

Second Team All-PacWest: Tyler Oakson and Elijah Amadin

Two Eagles made the Second Team this season, one veteran and one newcomer. The first honoree is Elijah Amadin, a player who is not new to this list has been in the PacWest for his whole career. Amadin was honored on the Second Team after ending the season with five goals and six assists. Three of his goals are coming from the first hat-trick of his college career against Hawaii Hilo. He is a natural leader on and off the field, always giving it his all each game and setting up his fellow Eagles for success, shown by his many assists. The newcomer to this list is Tyler Oakson, who became a cornerstone of the Eagles defense in his first full season in the program. He scored a single goal this season, but he saved countless goals from falling into the Eagles net, always putting his body on the line for his team. He will continue to lead the back four as his career at CUI continues and it will be exciting to see what he holds in store for the program.

Third Team All-PacWest: Luke Ryan, Willy Ospina, and Klaus Huovila

There was a final group of Eagles that were awarded All-PacWest honors on the Third Team. The first player was Luke Ryan; in his last season with the program, he stepped up and, with his tremendous stature mixed with superb technical ability, scored four goals and finished with three more assists. His effort and ability to maintain control of the ball with defenders flying in at him helped organize the Eagles offense countless times. The next Eagle is Willy Ospina, who has found his name on this list for the third time in his career. Ospina's stats don't show other than his single goal and assist on the season are his unrivaled distribution ability and incredible soccer IQ. He was always a reliable player on the field that the program trusted. The final player is Klaus Huovila, finding his name on this list for the first time. After scoring two goals and tallying six assists on the season, Huovila returned from an early injury to help lead the Eagles midfield and always used his passion for soccer to shine. He had a dominant presence on the field and never gave up on a play, tracking down the ball with ease.
