IRVINE, Calif. - Four CUI softball players have been named as All-Region selections through two different organizations in the span of a week.

This week, CUI seniors McKinsey Thorpe and Callie Nunes as well as outfielder Megan Massa and infielder Missy Nemeth made the First Team All-Region squad as voted by the D2CCA (Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association).

The other All-Region First Team was announced the week prior by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The same quartet of Eagles was on that esteemed list as well.

The recently named PacWest Player of the Year, Thorpe was honored for being the top second baseman in the West Region. Joining the Archbishop Mitty HS alum were Nunes, who was recently named PacWest Pitcher of the Year for the third time, as well as Nemeth at first base and Massa in one of the outfield spots. The quartet was selected for being the best at their respective positions via the voting by NFCA-affilliated coaches.

It's been an amazing season for all these student-athletes, with all four of those being named to the All-PacWest First Team selections as well just 24 hours prior to the announcement by the NFCA. Nemeth leads the Eagles in multiple offensive categories, including home runs and RBI, while Massa ranks second on the squad in batting average and hits.

Thorpe leads CUI in batting average entering the D2 Regional Tournament and has thrived both at the plate and in the field at second base. Nunes already owns the school record for career strikeouts and saves and is climbing the record books in more than 20 categories.

The Eagles maintained their No. 11 national ranking as well in the new NFCA poll that was released on Wednesday morning. The Green and Gold completed a four-game stretch up north last week and defeated Dominican and Hawaii Hilo each twice in the PacWest's Automatic Qualifier Tournament.
