Box Score TURLOCK, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine Eagles finished their stay up at the Tournament of Champions on a high note with a hard-fought victory over Cal Poly Humboldt.
Pitcher
Rae Flores was superb in the circle for the third time this week and tossed her second complete game in five days. The left-hander allowed only one earned run and a pair of hits over seven innings of work. Flores also tied her career-high with six strikeouts and moved to 8-0 on the year.
On the offensive side of things,
Megan Massa collected three hits and was one of three Eagles to pound out a double.
Jasmine Gorman helped stir the pot in the third inning by reaching on a fielder's choice after Massa had worked her way on base. That play plated
Lauren Lopez to give CUI a 1-0 lead. That speedy duo atop the lineup also pulled off a double steal to score CUI's second run when Gorman took off for second and Massa hustled home safely seconds later. On an unorthodox strikeout by
Sydney Sprinkle, Gorman came around to score to give Flores and the Eagles some extra breathing room, 3-0.
After the Jacks got on the board in the top of the sixth to make it 3-1,
Lauren Lopez contributed a RBI double in the bottom half of the frame to help send
Michalah Robison home for an insurance run and complete the scoring.
