IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine softball team earned the right to host the NCAA DII Regional for the fourth time on Monday morning.

CUI claimed the No. 2 seed in the West Region and will welcome No. 3 seed Chico State, No. 6 seed Cal State Dominguez Hills and No. 7 seed Azusa Pacific to Eagles Field for the double-elimination tournament that begins this Thursday, May 12.

The Eagles will face their PacWest Conference rivals from Azusa on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. following the clash of the CCAA schools at 12 p.m. in the first game of the week. CUI went 3-1 against APU this regular season and clinched the PacWest title for the third time since making the transition from NAIA to NCAA DII.  The Cougars finished in second place in the league standings and have won nine of their last 10 games.

The winners will then play Friday morning and the losing teams will effort to survive and work their way to Saturday where the last two teams will compete for a chance to advance to the Super Regional next week.
