IRVINE, Calif. - For the first time in school history, both a male and female student-athlete will represent Concordia University Irvine at the NCAA DII Track and Field Championships.
Dylan Fox set the school record multiple times this spring in the long jump and will aim to do so once again in Pueblo, Colorado. He has had an impressive first year with the Golden Eagles and was named PacWest Men's Field Athlete of the Week earlier this semester. He enters the meet looking to improve on his program-best mark of 7.55 meters. He will compete on Thursday, May 25 and the finals for the long jump are slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. local MT (which is 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time)
Joining Fox on the national stage in late May will be CUI distance runner
Porshe Eismann. She becomes the fifth CUI woman to qualify for the NCAA DII Championships and will compete in the 800 meter race. Eismann owns a season-best time of 2:08.75 in that event. She will also be the first-ever distance runner to compete on this national stage in the DII era at Concordia.
Eismann will compete in the women's 800 prelims on Friday, May 26 at 5 p.m. local MT (4 p.m. PT). Her best time ranks 12th out of the 24 entries scheduled for three total heats in the prelims. To advance to Saturday's finals (6:55 p.m. local time and 5:55pm PT) she will need to be either top two in her heat, or one of the remaining three overall times after those initial top six slots are filled.
Sarah Herron, Tamia Prince,
Paige Johnson and thrower
Sarah Fajer are the four previous CUI student-athletes to compete in this prestigious event.
