EMPORIA, Kan. -
Pierre Douat was the first Concordia University Irvine track and field athlete to compete at the 2026 NCAA DII Championships on Thursday with four more Golden Eagles waiting eagerly in the wings.
Douat finished the day in 16th place in the decathlon and shined in the shot put. The freshman from France shined when he stepped up to the circle, placing fifth and gaining 692 points in that event.
He was also eighth in the long jump and ninth in the 400 meter dash. Unfortunately, he did not score in the high jump, but he did earn 784 points with an 11th place finish in the 100 meter dash. More points are up for grabs as the meet continues on Friday.

Sophomore
Tim Weller and junior
Trey Vergenz are set to show their talents on Friday in the discus. Vergenz will also compete in a second event - the shot put - on Saturday afternoon.
For the ladies, freshman
Olivia Holmquist will compete in the high jump on Saturday and is ranked fifth in that event in D2. Her teammate
Julia Pisenti has also set multiple school records this year and qualified to compete in the discus which will start on Friday just like the men's event.
