IRVINE, Calif. – Concordia University Irvine Eagles track and field closed out the regular season with another strong showing at the Franson Last Chance Meet on Friday and Saturday, highlighted by a school record, national provisional marks, and several Top 10 finishes.

Highlighting the weekend for the Eagles, Max Castin delivered a record-breaking performance in the men's high jump. The senior cleared 2.05 meters to finish sixth overall while setting a new school record and earning an NCAA Division II national provisional qualifying mark.

In the throwing events, Trey Vergenz put together a standout weekend for Concordia. Vargenz captured first place in the men's shot put with a throw of 17.81 meters before recording a massive personal-best mark of 53.48 meters in the men's discus. The performance moved him to No. 20 in the NCAA Division II national rankings.

Tim Weller also continued his strong outdoor campaign in the men's discus, placing third overall with a mark of 51 meters. Weller currently sits No. 19 nationally, giving the Golden Eagles two nationally ranked throwers in the event.

On the women's side, Whitney Griffith earned a Top 10 finish in the women's discus, placing fifth overall, while Olivia Holmquist added another Top 10 performance after clearing 1.62 meters to finish eighth in the women's high jump.

Across the weekend, CUI showcased continued depth in the field events as the Golden Eagles made final preparations for postseason competition.

Concordia will return to action on May 21 at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Emporia, Kansas.
