IRVINE, Calif. – On Tuesday, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association named Concordia softball's
Rose Imbriano as the Easton/NFCA DII Assistant Coach of the Year!
"I could not be more excited for Rose to finally win this award," said Concordia athletic director and head softball coach
Crystal Rosenthal, who nominated Imbriano for the honor. "She is the most selfless, hardest-working person in our program and no one contributes more to the success. She has been the absolute best person to be on this journey with and I could not be more proud of her!"
Along with Rosenthal, CUI's Imbriano has helped build a nationally-ranked program that consistently competes at a high level and excels in the classroom. Imbriano works closely with the entire pitching staff, and this past season the Golden Eagles led ALL of NCAA DII with the lowest Team ERA (1.11). CUI led that category for the majority of the season and had five different pitchers routinely contributing in the circle with ERA (earned run average) of 1.50 or lower. CUI was led by All-American
Katlin Entrup and PacWest Newcomer of the Year
Daniela Alvarez.
Imbriano also coordinates Concordia's defense and scouting. She is an integral part of the team's success both on and off the field and a true example of consistent, steady service to others.
Together, Imbriano and Rosenthal have helped Concordia softball earn more than 650 wins during their time in the dugout in Irvine. A perennial power in the NFCA national rankings, the Golden Eagles have been ranked No. 1 at the DII level multiple times since making the transition up from NAIA. CUI finished this past season No. 15 in the final NFCA DII national poll.
Concordia concluded the 2023 season as PacWest Conference champions for the fourth consecutive season. CUI also won the first PacWest Conference Tournament held in over two decades and finished in fifth place in the standings for the fifth straight time (this includes the shortened 2021 season where pod play was used and no league champion is officially recognized).
Please join us in honoring a long-time contributor to the success of CUI Athletics!
