IRVINE, Calif. – Half a dozen Golden Eagles from the Concordia University Irvine women's soccer squad received All-Conference nods Wednesday as the PacWest acknowledged the top student-athletes across the league.
Bella Barrett shared Player of the Year honors with Dominican's Megan Clapinski and was named First Team All-PacWest as well. The junior from nearby Villa Park was CUI's leading scorer with eight goals & 18 points in just 14 starts (after she missed three games with injury).
All six of Barrett's game-winning goals were quick strikes that came remarkably in the first 17 minutes of action (17th, 4th, 5th, 12th, 3rd & 3rd minutes). She also tied the school record with six game-winners in one season and she now ranks second all-time at CUI with nine career game-winning goals. She was also calmly converted both of her two PKs for goals.
Joining Barrett as a
First Team selection was senior defender
Madison Hall. The leader of the CUI back line that collected 11 clean sheets and earned 10 shutout wins, Hall started every game for CUI and played all 90 minutes in 14 of those 17 matches. She helped quarterback a CUI defense that shattered the Fewest Goals Allowed Record (
only seven all season). She also would join the attack on occasion and added an assist in a 2-0 win at Chaminade. This is her second time recognized as one of the top players in the conference as she was Second Team All-Region and First Team All-PacWest last season.
Sloane De Torres made
Second Team All-PacWest as a defender after she started all 17 matches and played all 90 minutes on 10 occasions. De Torres was a key reason why CUI defense earned 11 clean sheets and had a +18 goal differential. She even scored the game-tying goal in the final four minutes against Dominican to salvage a 1-1 draw which ultimately helped extend the program's school record for Longest Home Unbeaten Streak to 22 games.
Three more Golden Eagles made
Third Team All-PacWest with
Elle Soleau, Ashley Grubert and Riley Urquiza receiving enough votes from coaches across the league.
Soleau made an immediate impact with five goals, three assists and 13 points. She was second on the squad in all three of those categories and led CUI in shots with 34. A former University of San Diego player, Soleau scored the game-winner in her team's 2-0 win at CSUDH and was also named PacWest Player of the Week (9/23/25) after she tallied a goal and assist in a 4-0 win over Northwest Nazarene. CUI was 5-0-1 when she registered at least one point.
Urquiza was Soleau's high school teammate and the pair was reunited with an outstanding season for the Green and Gold. The 2024 Co-PacWest Goalkeeper of the Year continued to assert her dominance as a brick wall and racked up over 50 saves with a miniscule 0.42 GAA. She zoomed away with the school record for most career individual shutouts (30) after compiling 10 individual shutouts this year and played a part in 11 total clean sheets. As mentioned earlier, Urquiza and the CUI defense only conceded seven goals all season and was a key reason why the program set the Longest Unbeaten Streak at home (18-0-4) of 22 games over the past three seasons… This is her third time being honored as one of the Best in the PacWest and she was First Team All-Conference last season.
Another reason for the team's defensive dominance was
Ashley Grubert, who started all 17 matches for CUI and played all 90 minutes in 13 of 17 matches. She tallied the game-winning goal at San Francisco State and also had assist in a road win at Biola. This is her second year gaining league-wide recognition as she was Second Team All-PacWest last year & has now played in 45 career games.
