ALLENDALE, Mich. – The CUI Track and Field team kept the momentum going on Day 2 of the Big Meet at Grand Valley State University with more impressive performances. After an already strong start on Day 1, the Eagles delivered even more personal bests, school records, and exciting finishes.
Noah Plaza, Colin Bervig, Gavin Hellerstedt, and Fernando Aguirre all set new personal bests in the men's 3K, continuing to make big strides in their events.
Mariza Chavez delivered a standout performance in the women's 3K, running a personal best of 10:22.46—an impressive 20-second improvement that earned her a 9th-place finish.
Claudia Vera also shined, improving on her previous best and finishing 2nd in her heat, showing her steady growth and determination.
Parker Williams was on fire in the men's 60m hurdles, winning the final with a time of 8.12. Teammate Josh Collier wasn't far behind, placing 3rd in the heat and showing off the strength of CUI's hurdling squad.
Jasmyn Crawford broke the school record in the women's 60m dash with an incredible time of 7.57, earning a spot among the fastest sprinters in CUI history.
The women's Distance Medley Relay team delivered another exciting performance, hitting a provisional mark and running the second-fastest time in school history.
Joshua Collier also had a personal best in the men's 400m, finishing 2nd in his heat with a time of 50.43, with teammate Parker Williams close behind in 3rd.
The Eagles' strong showing at the Big Meet wrapped up with plenty to celebrate, and now the team is gearing up for the Mt. SAC Kamaka Open from February 20-22. Stay tuned for more updates as CUI Track and Field continues to build on its success!
