IRVINE, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine softball returned to familiar ground on Tuesday as the Golden Eagles entered the NFCA DII Top 25 rankings after finishing off an 8-1 road trip in Hawai'i.
CUI also was named PacWest Team of the Week on the heels of that impressive stretch against three league opponents. CUI swept Hawai'i Hilo and Hawai'i Pacific in their three game series, and shutout Chaminade twice in their three meetings.
Freshman
Kacie Gossett tossed her first career no-hitter in a five inning gem against Chaminade this past Saturday and was rewarded as the PacWest Pitcher of the Week.
The impressive no-no came in just the fourth career start for Gossett. Sophomore
Jayden Nishi also won her last two starts and improved to 8-0 by only allowing one run and six hits over 12 innings of work.
The Green and Gold are sporting a 20-3 overall record and are 11-1 in the Pacwest entering Saint Patrick's Day weekend.
On deck for the Golden Eagles is a date with Pace in a non-conference doubleheader this Saturday, March 15 beginning at high noon in Irvine.
