COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Golden Eagles had an outstanding Day 2 at the Coast Classic, dominating across multiple events and finishing 1st in team scores for both the men's and women's teams.
The women's heptathlon was one of the biggest events of the day, with Giovana Pelascini and Riley Norris taking the top two spots. Pelascini finished 1st in the long jump with a jump of 4.79m, while Norris jumped 4.97m to place 1st in the event.
In the javelin throw, Pelascini placed 1st with a throw of 32.53m, while Norris came in 2nd at 27.14m. In the 800-meter run, Pelascini took 1st with a time of 2:18.97, and Norris finished 2nd at 2:19.71. These solid performances helped both athletes lead the women's team to a first-place finish in the team scores.
Jori Paradis led the way in the women's 1500-meter race, finishing 1st with a time of 4:30.90, adding more points for the Golden Eagles.
The men's 1500-meter race was also a highlight, with Colin Bervig taking 1st place with a time of 4:01.03. Noah Plaza followed in 2nd at 4:02.09, and Spencer Handorf finished 3rd at 4:03.95. The men's team claimed the top three spots, securing 1st place in team scores as well.
In the women's 100-meter hurdles, Kailyn Krebs earned 2nd place. In the men's 110-meter hurdles, Parker Williams took 1st place with a time of 14.44 seconds, while Joshua Collier finished 2nd at 14.74 seconds.
The Golden Eagles continued to dominate in the field events. In the women's pole vault, Bridget Bourdon cleared 3.20 meters to finish 1st. In the women's shot put, Elenise Fotu claimed 1st place with a throw of 11.38 meters.
In the women's discus throw, Khaiya Simpson, Whitney Griffith, Jasmyn Rios, and Ashley Heyer all placed in the top 4, helping the women's team add valuable points.
In the men's high jump, Max Castin cleared 1.90 meters to finish 1st. In the women's high jump, Telma Kristjansson took 1st with a jump of 1.60 meters.
In the men's shot put, Ryan Santana, Tim Weller, and Hunter Hornaday swept the top three spots, showing the team's strength in the throwing events.
Day 2 at the Coast Classic was a huge success for the Golden Eagles, with both the men's and women's teams finishing 1st in team scores. With strong performances across the board, the Golden Eagles are looking forward to their next meet at the Vince O'Boyle Classic in Irvine, California, on March 28th at 9:00 AM. The team will look to continue their success and build on this impressive showing.
